Next on the list of the Andes Collection: I’m super happy to introduce you to the Andes Cowl/Neckwarmer!
This beautiful Cowl is perfect for the winter! It’s super cozy and warm. Made with Bulky yarn so you can finish it in an evening!
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you are probably familiar with the Valdivia Cowl. Well, this is a very similar pattern, but, the difference is the stitch.
With this stitch, our cowl will have a more “knitted” look. You won’t be able to even tell that it’s crochet.
As you can notice in the pictures, I made two different sizes. One uses two skeins of yarn, which give us that long and squishy neckwarmer look. The other one uses just one skein of yarn; perfect for people who don’t like to feel “overwhelmed” or super wrapped up.
Either one is beautiful and it would make a perfect Christmas gift!
Remember always to share your final product using the hashtag #AndesCowl and tag me on Instagram or Facebook. We can’t forget how important it is to give credit to the designer and share their videos/blogs. This way you are supporting my work and I can continue offering you FREE patterns and videos!

Pattern
To begin let’s make the foundation chain, the same as the previous pattern, no too loose or too tight.
Chain 54
Make sure your chain is nice and straight, then join the ends with a slip stitch to work in the round.
Row 1: Before starting, turn your chain, we will work in the back, not the front as we would normally do. Then HDCSS in the first chain is available. Keep working all the way around (54 stitches in total)
Row 2: Chain 1, turn your work. Now work an HDCSS BLO in the very first stitch available. Repeat all the way around (54)
TIP! – If it is hard for you to recognize either the first or last stitch of each row, I suggest you place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each row, as well as counting your stitches in each row will help you to keep track and not end up with more/fewer stitches in your project.
Row 3-30: Repeat row #2 (54)
Note: I crocheted 30 rows with two skeins of yarn to make the larger version of this cowl, however, if you’d like to make the shortest version, crochet only 15 rows using 1 skein of yarn.
Once you’re done, cut the yarn leaving a long tail, join the row as I show in the video, weave in the ends and cut the remaining yarn.
Now you have a beautiful and cozy cowl/neckwarmer for this upcoming winter!
As you can see in the pictures, you can make this cowl one solid colour, two or even more colours! It’s all about you and your preferences!
I hope you like it!
