The Construction of this shawl
The Sunset Shawl is worked from one small corner, gradually growing with increases on just one side to create its beautiful asymmetrical shape. Don’t worry if it doesn’t look like a traditional triangle as you crochet, it’s not supposed to. The simple construction makes it easy to follow, and before you know it, you’ll have a lightweight shawl with a modern shape that’s just as fun to make as it is to wear.
Adjusting the Size
One of the best things about the Sunset Shawl is how easy it is to customize. If you’d like to make it bigger, simply keep crocheting until you’ve reached your desired size while continuing to follow the same colour sequence. Each section is made up of a block of your main colour followed by 4 rows of your contrast colour, and then repeated throughout the shawl. To keep the same look and pattern sequence, make sure you finish your shawl on a block of your main colour. If you’d prefer a smaller shawl, simply stop after completing a main colour block once you’ve reached the size you like.

Yarn
DK weight yarn #3. I used Coboo by Lion Brand Yarn (51% Cotton and 49% Rayon from bamboo). LINK – in the following colours and quantities:
Colour A: Buttercup 72g/153m
Colour B: Amber 97g/206m
Colour C: Auburn 110g/233m
Colour D: Vanilla Blossom 60g/127m (this is the colour we will use to divide every main colour section)

General Notes
- This is an asymmetrical shawl, so don’t worry if it doesn’t look like a perfect triangle—that’s exactly how it’s meant to look.
- Washing/blocking this shawl is optional.
- If you’d like to make your shawl larger, simply continue repeating the same colour sequence and stitch pattern until it reaches your desired size.
- We will be working this shawl with the linen stitch or moss stitch.

Pattern
Row 1: With colour A ch 3, then sc 2 into the first ch worked. (The last 2 chs will count as 1 st). (3 sts in total) (Photo A)
Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), turn, sc 2 into the first st, ch 1, skip a st, sc into the last st (the ch from the previous row). (4 sts in total) (Photo B)
**Repeat rows**
Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as a st), turn, skip the first st, [sc into the ch-space from the previous row, ch 1, skip a stitch], repeat to the last st, sc 2 into the last st. (5 sts in total) (Photo C)
Row 4: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), turn, sc 2 into the first st, [ch 1, skip a st, sc into the ch-space], repeat to the end of the row. (6 sts in total) (Photo D)
Now, alternate rows 3 and 4 for the remainder of the shawl. Every row will increase by 1 stitch and the increases will always be on the same side, this is what creates the asymmetrical look.
Colour sequence
18 rows of colour A
4 rows of colour D
18 rows of colour B
4 rows of colour D
18 rows of colour C
4 rows of colour D
Repeat the colour sequence until you reach desired size. Make sure your shawl ends on a block of one of the main colours.
For this specific size, you will need:
3 sections of colour A
3 sections of colour B
3 sections of colour C
Notes:
- To change colours, simply cut the yarn, join the new colour, and begin the next row with it. Once your shawl is complete, weave in all the ends for a clean, polished finish.
