This Christmas Skirt is oh-so-fun to make! The construction is fairly simple, so this pattern is for you if you are a beginner!
Practice your basic stitches, and you are good to go!
About the yarn I used
The good thing about decor projects is that we can use any type of yarn.
Since this skirt will always lay on the floor, we don’t need it to be soft, drapey or anything like that, so you feel free to use the yarn you like most.
In my case, I went with a blend of wool and acrylic, more specifically Hue + Me by Lion Brand Yarn.
One thing to keep in mind is to make sure you are buying bulky weight yarn #5, otherwise your skirt won’t be the same size at all.
About the size
This skirt is a standard size.
You can always make it larger to fit larger trees but keep in mind that the more rows you knit, the larger the number of stitches you will have, the more yarn you will need.
You can adjust the size by simply following the increased rows.

i-cord Bind off
Row 56: add 3 sts at the beginning of your row (I used the knit method, but feel free to use whatever method you prefer). [k2, k2tog through the back loop, put those 3 sts back on your left needle]. Repeat the sequence in the bracket until you have 3 sts left on your left needle. k1, k2tog, then k the last 2 sts together. Now fasten off.
Finishing
We will now work on the side opening of your skirt, this is to give a final touch, it is not necessary, but it makes your skirt look a bit more polished.
From the neck of your skirt, pick up stitches down the raw side. You should have 55 stitches (1 per row). Now we will do the i cord bind off right away. Follow the instructions for Row 56 on how to do the i-cord bind-off.
Repeat on the other opening edge of your skirt.
Fasten off and weave in the edges.
Now you can add ribbons, a cord or the same yarn to close the skirt with a bow.
I hope you guys enjoyed this pattern! Don´t forget to share your projects online and on Instagram! ~ Happy Knitting, Dani
