Hello hello everyone!
Today’s pattern is long overdue, the Sunrise baby blanket is a pattern that I designed back in June, I shared it on my Instagram and I’m finally now able to share it!.
I made this small version for my daughter’s doll, she loves playing with her babies and putting blankets, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to make a cute knitted blanket.

It’s also been a really long time since I made a knitted blanket, all the ones I have made so far have been crochet, so it felt really good to grab my knitting needles and start casting on a new project.
About the yarn I used
I recently went to Michaels Stores and found this beautiful yarn called Bulky Twist by Loops & Threads. It is a category 5, bulky weight yarn, and it’s 50% cotton, 50% acrylic, super soft and squishy.
You can use any bulky-weight yarn you can find.
About the size
The size I’m sharing today is a doll/lovey size, which is very small. It would also work for a newborn baby, it would fit perfectly fine.
If you want to modify the size of this blanket, you can do so by casting on a multiple of 10+6, keep in mind that you will also need to add some stitches for the border, in this case, I added 5 on each side for the border, so the math still works with 10+6.
If you don’t want to do the math and calculate the sizes, don’t worry! I already did the math for you, the PDF pattern includes 10+ sizes for you to make.
How to wash your knit blankets
Well it depends, you can’t just throw your blanket in the washing machine without looking at the yarn label first.
Every yarn you use should come with a label that indicates the name of the yarn, the colourway, the yardage and cleaning instructions.
I always recommend following the instructions provided by the yarn company, that way you will be successful every time.
But a general rule I follow in case I don’t have the labels: A blend of natural fibres, I always hand wash. A blend of synthetic fibres, machine-wash. If I have a blend of natural & synthetic, I would usually machine wash it because it will probably have more % of synthetic than natural.
But please don’t take my word as a statement and check your yarn label!
If you would like the ad-free printable pattern PDF, you can get it from Etsy or My Shop and Ravelry. This PDF includes 10+ sizes.

- To make the border, we will use a simple garter stitch border, the first 5 stitches and the last 5 stitches, are part of the border. I recommend placing a stitch marker to differentiate the border from the body of the blanket.
