Today’s ribbed beanie pattern is one of the easiest ones and will be your fave!
It’s worked up with super bulky yarn, making it very fast to knit and also very easy to identify each stitch.

These beanies are made with a category 6 – Super Bulky yarn
But I will also leave the pattern for a category 5 – Bulky yarn

Materials
- 1 Skein of yarn, category 6 “Super Bulky” (Here’s the one I used) (or 1 Skein of category 5 “Bulky” yarn)
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
- 9 mm/16″ Circular Needles (or 6.5 mm/16″ for the Bulky version)
Abbreviations (US terms)
- K– Knit
- P– Purl
- Dec– Decrease (knit two stitches together)
Gauge
Bulky weight yarn, 1×1 ribbing 6.5 mm needles:
4″x4″= 19 sts x 18 rows
Super Bulky Weight yarn, 1×1 ribbing 9 mm needles:
4″x4″= 13 sts x 11 rows
Adult size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast on 66(44) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 52(34): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 53(35): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 54(36): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 55(37): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
Teen size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast-on 62(42) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 50(32): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 51(33): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 52(34): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 53(35): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
Child size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast-on 60(38) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 46(30): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 47(31): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 48(32): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 49(33): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
Toddler size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast-on 56(36) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 44(28): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 45(29): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 46(30): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 47(31): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
6-12 Months size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast on 52(34) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 40(26): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 41(27): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 42(28): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 43(29): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
3-6 Months size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast-on 46(32) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 34(22): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 35(23): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 36(24): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 37(25): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
0-3 Months size Pattern
Cast on accordingly Bulky(Super Bulky)
Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast-on 40(28) and join to work in the round.
Round 1: [K1, P1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 2 – 30(20): Repeat round 1.
Note: Every row should begin with a Knit stitch and finish with a Purl stitch.
Round 31(21): K1 [Dec, K1]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 32(22): K1 [Dec]. Repeat all the way around.
Round 33(23): K all the way around.
Now cut the yarn, thread up your tapestry needle and pass all the live stitches onto your yarn. Pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.
Now you can attach a pompom or leave it as it is!
