This must be one of the easiest crochet projects for beginners. You don’t need to know a lot to make these baskets.
You can fill them up with chocolates, books, PJs, or anything you would like to give your little ones for easter!
I know how overwhelming these times are and sometimes kiddos only want, you know, chocolates and things like that. But I feel like if we make them something, they can also start to understand that there’s something beyond the Easter Bunny and the chocolates.
You can even start a tradition, of making a basket for every Easter, or a stuffy, or whatever you can think of!
The wonderful thing about baskets is that you can use them afterwards. Yes, you can give them as gifts for Easter, but after that, you can use them to store anything you want. ie. scrunchies, socks, small toys, jewelry, etc.
You can even use them to dress up a plant, or hide little things in your kitchen, oh gosh, the endless possibilities!

Pattern
Note: I want you to pay attention to the pattern. If you know how to work in the round and do all the increases, you are one step ahead. I’m going to show you, how to make invisible increases. The key to invisible increases when working in the round, is to not overlap them.
Round 1: In a magic/adjustable ring, sc 6 (6)
Round 2: Sc 2 in each st (12)
Round 3: [Sc 1, sc 2 in next st]. Repeat all the way around (18)
Round 4: Sc 1, sc 2 in next st, [sc 2, sc 2 in next st]. Repeat all the way around until 1 st left. Sc 1. (24)
Round 5: [Sc 3, sc 2 in next sts]. Repeat all the way around (30)
Round 6: Sc 2, sc 2 in next st [sc 4, sc 2 in next st]. Repeat all the way around until 2 sts left. sc 2 (36)
Round 7: [Sc 5, sc 2 in next st]. Repeat all the way around (42)
Now that you get the sequence, continue increasing each round until you reach the size of your desired base.
Once you’re done, now you are going to work in the round, no stitch markers are needed, just work around with single crochet, no increases, until you reach the desired height for your basket. Keep in mind that will need an extra inch and a half to fold the brim.
Dimensions
Base: 7.5″
Length: 6″ unfolded, 4.5″ when folded.
Crochet Diagram
Note: Notice how after round 4, the increases don’t overlap. This is because we are spreading the increases at the beginning. By moving only 1 increase a little bit, we avoid that hexagon look. All we are doing is changing the first increase of every even number of rounds.
And that’s it! Now you have these adorable Easter baskets ready to go!.
Now that you know how to make them, you can customize them in multiple sizes!
