Hello hello!
How is your week going?. Today I have a super fun tutorial for all of you Fall/Aumtun lovers.
We are going to learn how to crochet pumpkins!
These pumpkins are very easy and quick to crochet. You don’t need lots of yarn and you can customize the size and the stitch.
As you can see in the picture above, I added a cinnamon stick to my pumpkin and it doesn’t just look cute, it also smells amazing!
I’m going to show you how to crochet 2 different pumpkins, one with super bulky weight yarn and another one with bulky weight.
You can choose whatever yarn you’d like, however, I would recommend not using anything thinner than worsted weight.
Another thing to keep in mind is that these pumpkins that we are just about to make, it’s very similar to crocheting amigurumi, which means that you need to use a smaller crochet hook than the yarn calls for. This is so your stitches would be nice and tight and you won’t be able to see the stuffing.

Abbreviations
SC: Single Crochet
BLO: Back Loop Only
HDC: Half Double Crochet
Pattern
Pumpkin no. 1 (Super bulky weight yarn)
Start by chaining 12 + 1
Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook, SC all the way across (12)
Row 2: SC BLO in the first space available, repeat all the way across (12)
Repeat row no. 2 until your rectangle measures 10.5″/26 cm
Now you have to join both ends with your preferred method. I’m using slip stitch to join.
Now proceed to close one end of the pumpkin, secure it and make sure you weave in the ends.
Now, stuff your pumpkin with the poly-fil and proceed to close that end as well.
Before closing, place the cinnamon stick to leave a small gap in the middle so you can switch your stick when necessary.
Remove the cinnamon stick and now we are going to shape the pumpkin.
For more details please watch the video tutorial on how to shape the pumpkin.
Pumpkin no. 2 (Bulky weight yarn)
Start by chaining 14 + 1
Row 1: HDC in the second chain from the hook, HDC all the way across (14)
Row 2: HDC BLO in the first space available, repeat all the way across (14)
Repeat row no. 2 until your rectangle measures 9.5″/24 cm
Now you have to join both ends with your preferred method. I’m using slip stitch to join.
Proceed to close one end of the pumpkin, secure it and make sure you weave in the ends.
Now, stuff your pumpkin with the poly-fil and close that end as well.
For this pumpkin, we won’t be leaving a gap for the cinnamon stick, you can close it completely and only pass your needle up and down through the center of the pumpkin.
For more details please watch the video tutorial.
And that’s it! That is how you make the pumpkins!
I hope you guys enjoyed it.
Happy Crochet! – Dani
