Simple and beautiful Christmas Crochet Coasters

Hello everyone!

The holidays are around the corner and we are all busy trying to find things to crochet/knit as gifts and/or decorations.

We still have plenty of time, that’s why today I want to share with you my latest design.

These beautiful crochet coasters are so simple to make and they are absolutely beautiful.

These coasters can be made in under 10 minutes and they will make the perfect addition to your dinner table.

You can make them match the decorations around your house or the same colour palette as your dining table decor.

Either way, these coasters are super handy to have and they also make for a perfect gift if you make a set of 4 or 6.

Stitches you should know

• Magic ring
• Chain
• Slip stitch
• Double crochet

Materials

• Category 4, worsted weight yarn. I recommend 100% cotton, these are the brands I would choose Dishie by Knitpicks, 24/7 Cotton by LB Yarn, or the new Capri Eco Cotton by Loops & Threads

• 5.5 mm and 6 mm crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

There is no gauge for this pattern, but keep in mind that the thicker your yarn, the bigger your coaster will be. The thinner, the smaller it will be.

Abbreviations

MR – Magic Ring (or adjustable ring)

Ch(s) – Chain(s)

Ss – Slip Stitch

Dc – Double Crochet

Ps – Picot stitch: Chain 3, then ss into the 1 ch you made.

St(s) – Stitch(es)

Pattern

Make a MR

Round 1: Ch 3 (don’t count as 1 dc), dc 12 into MR. Pull tight to close the ring (12)

Round 2: Ch 3 (don’t count as 1 dc), 2 dc in each st available (24)

Round 3: Ch 3 (don’t count as 1 dc), [dc 1, 2 dc], repeat to the end of the round. (36)

Now cut the yarn and close round 3, weave in the ends.

Start round 4 with the new colour in any of the sts available.

Please note that you don’t have to change colour, if so, don’t cut the yarn and continue round 4 with the same colour.

Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc into the same space as the ch 3, ps, 2 dc (all in one st) now follow the sequence: [skip 2, (2 dc, ps, 2 dc)]. Repeat to the end of the round.
