Hello everyone!
I’m back with another fun and easy crochet pattern.
The Cottage Mug Rug is a very simple project, you can use leftover yarn that you have around your house. I also love gifting these cute mug rugs to all my friends and family!
These mug rugs are made out of 100% cotton yarn and even though I would highly recommend making them with cotton, you can certainly use any kind that you have in hand.
If acrylic or other fibers are available, go ahead and use them but if you have to go out and get some yarn, definitely get 100% cotton.
What I love the most about this design is that is very customizable. You can combine colours, make them all one solid colour, you can make them bigger or smaller, you can transform the whole thing into placemats, really the possibilities are endless!
If you are a beginner, this project will be perfect for you!
You can practice your basic stitches while making something beautiful in no more than 30 minutes.
I personally love making these types of projects, I have them all around my house and we use them all the time.
When making kitchen/home decor, I always go for cotton yarn. It is very easy to clean, it won’t lose its shape, the fabric won’t get ruined or anything.
Now let’s see what you need to make these cute mug rugs
Stitches you shoud know

Pattern
Start with your foundation chain, chain 19
Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook. Continue single crochet all the way down. You should have 18 stitches.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn your work, insert your hook in the same stitch as the chain, yarn over pull through, insert your hook in the stitch below (from the previous row), yarn over pull through. Yarn over pull through all the loops.
Repeat this stitch all the way down.
Now alternate rows 1 and 2 until you have a perfect square.
Once you have your square, now we will make the fringes. Cut pieces of yarn (4′ each app.). I’m using 3 strands for each fringe.
Attach them to your square.
Optional: You can brush the fringes with your pet brush to fluff them up.
That’s it! Super easy and quick project for this weekend.
I hope you all loved it and I’ll see you at the next one!
